Daniel has offered master classes in poetry writing for teachers at The Frost Place in Franconia, New Hampshire, the Artist/Teacher Institute at Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, and the New England Young Writers Conference at Breadloaf in Ripton, Vermont. His early handbook for teachers, Homemade Poems: A Handbook, produced with a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts and distributed to all 50 states, helped to launch the national Poets in the Schools program that revitalized interest in teaching poetry three decades ago. Daniel has taught students and their teachers in some 150 schools in South Dakota, Wyoming, Delaware, New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
Daniel is available primarily to lead master classes aimed at supporting teachers as they develop their own writing while reading the best of our contemporaries and developing fresh ideas for teaching students. Daniel teaches poetry, Vermont Literature, and creative writing at the University of Vermont.
